ABOUT
ME
Lisa Kopitsky is a New York-based fight director, movement teacher, and performer. She has been creating violence for theater and film for over ten years. Her work has been seen on and off-Broadway, as well as in regional theaters around the country. Lisa has been studying movement in various forms for her entire life, including a number of martial arts and dance techniques, such as karate, hip hop, and tango. She has a passion for teaching and her students have spanned the learning experience from infancy through college. Additionally, after working to foster playwrights in The Public Theater’s Literary office and Emerging Writers Group, as well as having created her own independent program of study at New York University’s Gallatin School focused on storytelling through physicality, Lisa is able to bring her dramaturgical knowledge to bear in close collaboration with directors and performers. Stage combat allows her to incorporate her martial and performative backgrounds to create realistic, effective, and textually-supported violence.
